Consultations
Sydney Gastroenterology offers consulting services for patients with a variety of gastrointestinal or hepatological conditions, some of which are more complex than others.
A/Prof Pavey consults face-to-face from his rooms at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse or via Telehealth. In the majority of cases, it is at the patient’s discretion which they would prefer, however, certain types of appointment are required to be face-to-face.
Prior to a consultation, your referral will have been reviewed by A/Prof Pavey. Consultations are typically 30 minutes but this can vary depending on your health history and particular condition. The length of appointment may impact the consultation fee, a portion of which is rebated by Medicare.
Consultation appointments are offeredĀ for general gastrointestinal (GI)Ā conditions, gastrointestinal cancer screening and management, Barrett’s esophagus, pancreatic conditions (including pancreatic cysts), colon polyps, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and complex case and condition management.
Patients with particular health profiles, who are over a certain age, on multiple medications, have co-morbidities or may otherwise be considered clinically complex, will need to attend a consultation prior to an endoscopic procedure being scheduled.
